March 11, 2008
Well, today I had orientation at the YMCA. I have been hired there to teach aerobics and to hopefully help out on the floor a few hours a week for a little supplemental income. However, I will not be starting for another week and a half (Yes, the countdown has finally begun for my trip to Paris!) I will not bore you with any details but let's just say that the orientation hours were filled with paperwork and homemade videos (although I have seen worse in my years). Thankfully I am already CPR certified so I didnt have to sit through another, "Help. Call 911. It is an emergency. I am monotone and not expressing any emotion as someone is lying unconscious on the floor." Now, I realize that those videos are life-saving and not anything to poke fun at, but you have all been there and have watched those videos and wondered, "is everyone really that calm and collective during an emergency?" I think not. All in all, I am very excited to start teaching at the Y and to have an avenue of meeting some more Jacksonvillians. I like meeting and greeting people so it will be fun to have a social outlet and to hopefully meet some more friends in the area.
